These are quiet, slow-rolling, percolating, ambient pieces. Each one is named for, and designed to invoke, particular streets in NW Portland.

When I first moved to Portland nearly thirty years ago, we moved to NW and lived in an apartment at 22nd and Irving for the first year. I’d walk the streets around there constantly, absorbing my new town, breathing it in deep. Everything was new. It was wonderful.

I wanted this record to celebrate the town I love, and I also wanted to find out if it was possible to transfer some of the strong feelings I had living in NW onto you via music, Lovely Listener. I really hope you like it.

This first volume covers the streets Burnside through Lovejoy.
Down the line there will be a second volume of Northwest.
